Home Seller Tips: Last minute checklist for listing, showing and open houses
There seems like there are a million and one things to do to
get a house ready for sale and never enough time to get everything done. Here is a list of small but potentially
important little chores that can often get forgotten. Good time to recruit help; either family
members, friends or professionals-if the list looks too daunting.
-baseboards and caulking clean and fresh
-light switches, electrical plates and walls around them
clean
-stove, microwave and hood fan clean
-tile grout clean, especially in foyer, kitchen and bathroom
floor and showers
-all appliances staying with the house clean
-fireplace clean and gas fireplace window cleaned
-wooden hardwood railings and spindles often need a good
cleaning or sometimes refinishing
-windows and screens clean
-blinds and drapes
-carpeting cleaned and professionally if necessary
-dusting everywhere
-toilets, bathtubs and showers (clean and de-clutter
showers)
-bathroom ceiling fans or other exhaust fans often collect
dirt, dust, lint and other debris
-clean under fridge and stove
-make sure there is easy access to furnace, AC, HWT, air exchanger,
attic, electrical panel
-check your attic
-ensure there is no sign of unwanted insects or critters in
basement, garage, attic or shed.
-clean pet areas extensively
-do an odour check
-absolutely no smoking
-run air exchanger/HRV or ensure air is fresh.
-no artificial scents or smells necessary ie spray, Glade
plug-ins, carpet deodorizer, vanilla etc.
-change your furnace filter
-check your HRV filter and clean the unit if necessary
-temp between 19-22 C
This is by no means an exhaustive list but hopefully alerts
sellers to a couple of things they may have overlooked. Good selling!
